Title: Head of Global Accounting

Contract: 18-month FTC

Salary: £110,000 - £130,000 + generous bonus & benefits

Location: London (hybrid, 3 days WFH, 2 days in City of London office)

 

Our client is a multinational Shipping group, headquartered in London. They are currently looking for an interim Head of Accounting to join the team on an 18-month FTC basis.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for delivery of Group financial statements and closure of Group audit in a timely manner

  • Management of the monthly financial reporting cycles ensuring timely and accurate reporting in accordance with the Group’s deadlines

  • Responsible for accounting advisory services both routine and M&A (acquisitions and disposals accounting) and ensuring these are accounted for and consolidated appropriately in a timely manner

  • Responsible for reporting the compliance of the Group’s covenants to external stakeholders

  • Responsible for closing gaps identified in any internal or external audits as well as third party reviews within a reasonable time frame

  • Manage agreed upon projects to continuously improve accounting and reporting process

  • Responsible for ensuring the Group’s accounting system Unit 4 and consolidation system Hyperion continues to be fit for purpose

  • Articulate system development requirements to Head of Finance Systems, challenging status quo to drive process and technology enhancements to deliver efficiencies

  • Articulate accounting implications for any projects undertaken by other functions and drive the accounting related aspects of the projects (e.g., Transfer pricing, Global cash pool, etc.)

  • Manage and motivate 3 direct reports including ensuring appropriate training, development and succession planning.

 

Requirements:

  • Prior Big 4/Top 10 audit experience is essential

  • Qualified and Registered Chartered Accountant (ACA / ACCA / CA(SA) (or equivalent))

  • University degree in finance, accountancy, business

  • Excellent knowledge of current IFRS, consolidation and statutory accounting, including practical implementation thereof

  • Post qualification experience of 6+ years

  • Experience in developing and leading teams to achieve continuous improvement and performance excellence

  • Senior level experience working in a multi-national, multi-cultural organisation

  • Project management experience

  • Experience in financial risk management and enforcing control environment

  • Experience in working on a group consolidation system
