Payroll Administrator

JOB ROLE:           Head of Financial Transformation

REPORTING TO:  Finance Manager

DURATION:          Permanent

SALARY:              £120,000 - £150,000

My client, a multinational maritime/shipping group, is seeking a Head of Financial Transformation with a strong understanding of effective corporate governance. This is a "hands on" role where the successful individual will be expected to roll up their sleeves and implement changes across the organisation, with support from individual department heads.

 

Job Overview

  • Reporting to the MD;

  • London based but with possible need to travel, from time to time, to our offices in Europe, Africa and Asia;

  • Bringing about ‘good’ and effective governance across the Group;

  • IT and business process improvement, aimed at performance improvement;

 

 

Main responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Own, develop and strengthen the Group’s processes/systems/controls;

  • Identify gaps and weaknesses across the business’ processes and develop effective and practical solutions;

  • Working across teams/departments to carry out role as well as to monitor implementation of improvements;

  • In some cases, defining business risk in order to prioritise areas for improvement;

  • Promote innovation and new ideas to drive efficiency in internal controls to support changes in the Group’s operations/commercial endeavours;

  • Lead and project manage IT transformation, including IT integration assignments;

  • Develop and prepare work/progress trackers reports for the MD; and

  • Coordinate with and provide support to the external service providers where appropriate.

 

 

Competencies

  • Track record at business and IT transformation and evidenced ability to review, assess and judge the appropriateness of systems/processes;

  • Experienced in understanding ‘good’ corporate governance;

  • Prior Finance Transformation experience desirable but not essential

  • Professional ‘self-starter’ who has the authority to challenge stubborn department heads;

  • Diligent with an attention to detail;

  • Enquiring mind;

  • Ability to assimilate and understand a new sector in the shipping industry;

  • Analytical – quantitative and qualitative;

  • Exceptional managerial and interpersonal skills;

  • Punctual, time-managed, organised and structured in approach;

  • Flexibility to juggle multiple assignments and focussed on outcomes/results/executing change;

  • Excellent written and oral communicator;

  • Capability to influence at Executive, Non-Executive level and external service providers;

  • Commercial thinking including an ability to compute cost/benefit analyses;

  • Ability to work both independently and as a part of a team.
